Loony Bethany nuns evicted from Polish convent

The eviction of Bethany nuns from their convent in the quiet area of Kazimierz Dolny south of Warsaw is currently taking place. It seems that the greatest fear of church and police authorities, that the former nuns and the Franciscans who have joined them would commit mass suicide, has always been an unlikely outcome. This ain't no Branch Davidian cult - just a bunch of stubborn delusional nuns.

According to the Warsaw Voice10 nuns were excommunicated over 2 years ago after running into conflict with the Vatican when their Mother Superior Jadwiga Ligocka allegedly had spiritual visions and claimed she was being directed by the Holy Spirit to change the order into a contemplative one.

As a result 10 members of the order were reprimanded. They refused to leave the religious house and were subsequently joined by another 50 supporters, including a religious brother, 42-year-old Franciscan monk Roman Komaryczko.

This priest has run into trouble before with his superiors for alleged sex offences. Media reports here have claimed
the priest has started "a sect" in the convent, declaring himself the guru, and has sexually molested former Bethany nuns.

It's quite possible that's all bullshit though.

Furthermore, allegations are rife that he claims this was a form of "therapy to bring the nuns closer to God." Whether this is true or just media sensationalism remains to be seen.

So since they have been banished by the church, the militant nuns have locked themselves into the convent, refusing to abide by court requests that they leave the premises voluntarily. Ultimately, the former nuns own order took a court case to get an official eviction of the premises to reclaim their property. That eviction is due to end in a few hours.

The Bethany nuns Polish provincialite paid 56,000 zl. for the eviction to be carried out. According to TVP Info, approximately 65 people are in the convent, including a mother and her 2 month old child. There are up to 100 police officers accompanying court-appointed eviction officers who are negotiating the end of the siege.

The Congregation of Sisters of the Bethany Family was started 77 years ago. Their primary vocation was seen to aid priests in their daily parish services. In addition they teach religion and visit the sick. They work abroad as well as having numerous other convents throughout Poland.

I'm a bit confused as to what the Vatican had against contemplation. Why did they get ex-comunicated in the first place?

They got excommunicated cause the Polish church and Vatican demanded they step back into line. The visions were deemed as not guided by the Holy Spirit, but rather a rare yet increasingly common side effect of drinking too much sour milk.

Nuns take vows of obedience. When they are disobedient and are thought to be bringing the church into scandal or ridicule then the Vatican have a tendency to crack down hard.

One would wonder why the fuck Fr. Teddy Rydzyk has not being sent to a chicken factory yet?

Obviously one rule for one and another for another. Fr. Teddy is after all a man!! and The nuns are i suspect only women. Do yuou think this can have any affect on a traditionally patriarchal organisation?

Yes, as Kacynski's catchphrase goes, it's 'obviously obvious.'

Fr. Teddy has a newspaper, TV and radio station.

The nuns probably didn't even have a TV, or if they did they probably only looked at Fr. Teddy's TRWAM shitology.

Gender is not the issue - media control and influence is. The former Bethany nuns were too meek for their own good. They needed a good PR person to organise the composition of a book and a film about the Mother Superior's visions.

Instead they just got 5 hours of negative coverage on TVP Info. yesterday.

Fr. Teddy needs to be defrocked ans sent far away to do penance for being a pain in the ass.

The nuns whereabouts remain unknown.

A documentary on Polish TV tonight revealed that they organised private cars to bring them away from the retreat centre where they were brought initially by police authorities.

Watch this space for updates.........

The photo is of the Sisters of Divine Providence in Pittsburgh, PA, taken in the sixties. I know two of them. They taught me in grade school. I have no idea why they were photographed with long guns.
