A bit of sense from Brussels
The European Parliament has condemned Polish Minister for a Quasi-Fascist State (ooops, slip of the finger, I mean Minister for Education - a warped form of Catholic fundamentalism, that is). THe Conservative Polish Premier, Jaroslaw Kaczynski rejected European Union criticism Thursday of a proposal to fire teachers for "homosexual propaganda," saying

"it was not in the interest of society to have more gay people."

What the fuck? Let's replace the word homosexual with Jew for a moment - "it was not in the interest of society to have more gay people."

I'm not going to fall into the Godwin law trap of he/she who mentions the N*zis first loses the argument, but suffice to say replacing that word 'gay' with a handful or other words: gypsy, black, et al. would have received outcries from each and every progressive - but here in POland, it seems par for the course that if your gay, well, it would be better for everybody if you just sank into a sewer hole and slithered away into eternal stenchdom with the excrement of 'normal' heteros.

The motion calling on the Polish gvt. to reject Giertych's stupid ideological battle against an ' 'moral enemy' he has obsessively attacked, verbally through parliament and physically through his youth brigade, All Polish Youth, to deflect attention from his unpopular educational policies, was supported by deputies numbering 325-124.


Institutionalising Discrimination
The premier of Poland rejected the proposition by Euro MEPs to withstand pressure from creating a more intolerant environment for sexual minorities that actually already exists, saying that Polish gays were discriminated against but added

"However, if we're talking about not having homosexual propaganda in Polish schools, I fully agree with those who feel this way," Kaczynski said. "Such propaganda should not be in schools; it definitely doesn't serve youth well."

Maybe Euro MEP's should call for protection of middle-aged batchelors who live with their cat (like Jaroslaw) to prove to the Polish gvt. that they support all minority's preferential choices of the lifestyles they wish to lead, whether they be inter-species feline partnership or just same-sex relations.
