Polish Government Party try to purge the Marijuana Leaf!

Oh boy, here we go again!
The League of Polish Families aims to fight the sources of drug use and a "drug culture ... around 15- and 16-year-olds," said League lawmaker Przemyslaw Andrejuk.

And how do they want to do it - by banning T-shirts and other items bearing the marijuana leaf. Furthermore thay want to delegalise the sale of marijuana seeds, while also giving employers the legal right to send employees they suspect of smoking the weed and doing other mind and body altering substances to undergo drug tests.

According to the LPR politician, jail sentences for people apprehended for producing items that promote drugs could be up to a year while club owners may face having their license revoked for up to two years if they don't crackdown on allowing drug use on their premises.

"We spend huge sums of money on therapy for people addicted to drugs and huge sums of money fighting the drug market in Poland, but we rarely speak about the sources of drug use," Andrejuk said.

Ok, I agree - prevention is better than cure, but you've got your priorities haywire. Such a law will only further incriminate the vulnerable and drive then towards that which you want them to avoid. It's a similar situation with LPR trying to remove Dostoejvsky, Gombrowicz, Kafka, Conrad et al. from the reading lists at school only to replace them with nationalist Catholic authors. Now teens are beginning to realise that the former mentioned authors are actually worth reading.

Well LPR dudes, if you want to tackle the sources of drug use, banning t-shirts, cups and cigarette lighters with the leaf of a natural plant is only going to bite you in the ass.

I suppose LPR also believe that marijuana is part and parcel of the homosexualisation and recommunisation of Polish and world culture and society? In a few years they probably suspect we will all be a bunch of pot-smoking, lazy-assed, unpatriotic former hetero reds with a distaste for all things quasi-fascist. Oooops, how did that slip out! The Thought Police are going to be knocking on the door any minute now, gotta run!!!!

it links back to your post on women's clothes etc. It removes the onus from all the other aspects of society that influence kids and criminalizes the youth. However, i think from past experience we can safely say that this will die a death as did the banning of porn.

Yeah, for sure it's already on the way to the dumpster. I predict there is now a high probability that the amount of kids walking around stoned on pot is going to jump. Pot smoking Gothic readers of Conrad on skateboards around the Palace of Culture - now that would be a sight to piss off these nutters.

I think that the Polish government is taking a step in the wrong direction. Poland and Poles have been brutally abused by centuries of war, and communists. The tourism in Poland is very low and the economy , although getting better is still lagging compared to the rest of the western European nations. I think if the polish government started working together and adapted the drug policy's of the dutch and opened state regulated coffee shops, that would dramatically increased the states tourism, revenue in taxation of the cannabis crop. Marijuana is one of the biggest cash crops in the world. In the US alone Marijuana crop growing beats corn, wheat and rye put together. Take my word for it “ Americans use a lot of corn” Marijuana is a multi billion dollar business. Don't ban it, use it to jump start the countries economy and free up those crowded jail. No one should be in jail for a gram of pot and certainly not for a T-shirt.
