Cindy Sheehan and Rhuhel Ahmed at Shannon

Cindy Sheehan recently travelled through Ireland and called on the collaborating gvt. to end their facilitation of the U.S. occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Cindy's son Casey also travelled through the warport en route to Iraq before he was killed on 04/04/04 in Baghdad. As the co-founder of 'Gold Star Families' and 'Peace and The Camp Casey Institute' she has become a leading dissenting voice against the Bush adminstration's warmongering.

She was accompanied by Rhuhel Ahmed, on of the 'Tipton 3', who was sold to the American invaders for 30 pieces of silver by some greedy and sycophantic Northern Alliance soldiers. Rhuhel was accused of supporting terrorism, packed off to Guantanamo to be the subject of sadistic torture practices for 2 1/2 years before being released.

Unforunately, due to the Irish election results the U.S. military stopover at Shannon, refueling of planes, transportation of weaponry, etc. is now due to continue into the forseeable future. The Green party leader has already said there are no pre-conditions for his party on joining gvt., the Labour party leader has never prioritised Shannon as an important anti-war issue and indeed goes against the grain of their own manifesto and some leading members like Michael D. Higgins, the Shinners have flopped - possibly gaining one less seat than in the last election - while the only good news to take from the whole debacle is that Michael McDowell, the notorious gung-ho Minister for Injustice, has departed politics after not being re-elected.

So will it be a Green/FF coalition? Save the trees, but fuck the people of Iraq and our economically deriven argument of national self-interest for supporting war!
